August

In August, hot days and cool nights often translate by morning as banks of fog in the valley and along the river. Vegetation is full and tough. Swimming at the pond is at its best. Crickets chirp from dawn to dusk and sunsets over the west ridge are dramatic. Some varieties of apples in the old orchards are beginning to ripen for early picking. Time slows down ever so briefly while meals on the terrace and around the fire with family and friends are among the pleasant rewards of a summer well spent.
