March

March is a month of transition. Overnight, heavy snows give way to increasingly warm days when Vermont begins to thaw from winter’s grip. Heavy skies, dense snow, cold rain, ice storms, occasional bursts of sun, and muddy roads are the unpredictable patterns while we race toward our last ski of the season. By the end of the month, flocks of robins and bluebirds begin to arrive—the first to return from their winter respites farther south—squawking with excitement.
